How to Start Selling on Go-Clone

Everything you need to know — from taking your first cutting to shipping rooted clones to buyers across the country.

1

What is Cannabis Cloning?

A quick primer on why clones matter.

Cannabis cloning is the process of taking a small cutting from a “mother” plant and rooting it to produce a genetically identical copy. The resulting clone carries the exact same genetics, cannabinoid profile, and growth characteristics as the original.

Guaranteed Genetics

Every clone is a genetic copy of the mother — no surprises.

Faster than Seeds

Skip germination and sexing. Clones are already female and vegging.

Consistent Results

Growers get the same yield, flavor, and potency every cycle.

2

Equipment You Need

Gather these supplies before you take your first cutting.

Rooting Hormone

Gel or powder — helps cuttings develop roots faster.

Humidity Dome & Propagation Tray

Maintains high humidity while roots develop.

Growing Medium

Rockwool cubes, Rapid Rooters, or perlite.

Sharp, Sterilized Scissors or Razor

A clean cut prevents infection and promotes rooting.

pH-Balanced Water

Aim for 5.5 – 6.5 pH for best nutrient uptake.

Heat MatOptional

Keeps the root zone warm (72-80 F).

Grow LightOptional

Gentle 18/6 light cycle while roots develop.

Step-by-Step Cloning Process

Follow these steps for healthy, rooted clones every time.

  1. 1Select a healthy mother plant in the vegetative stage with vigorous growth and no signs of pests or disease.
  2. 2Cut a 4-6 inch branch at a 45-degree angle just below a node using sterilized scissors or a razor blade.
  3. 3Remove the lower leaves, leaving only 2-3 fan leaves at the top. Dip the cut end into rooting hormone.
  4. 4Place the cutting into a pre-moistened growing medium (rockwool cube, Rapid Rooter, or perlite).
  5. 5Cover with a humidity dome and keep the environment warm (72-80 F). Aim for 80-90% relative humidity.
  6. 6Mist the clones daily and vent the dome briefly to prevent mold. Roots typically appear in 7-14 days.
  7. 7Once roots are 1-2 inches long, transplant into soil or your preferred growing medium and begin normal feeding.

Packaging & Shipping Live Clones

Get your clones to the buyer alive and healthy.

Wrap roots in a moist paper towel, then seal with plastic wrap to retain moisture during transit.

Use insulated packaging (e.g., a foam-lined box) to buffer temperature swings.

Ship Monday through Wednesday to avoid weekend delays at distribution centers.

Include heat packs in cold weather (below 50 F) to keep clones warm during shipping.

Label the outside of every box "LIVE PLANTS — HANDLE WITH CARE" in clear, bold lettering.
